Two Day Course on The Effective Use of Research & Publication Tools and Resources

"I want to increase the citation of my papers, how do I do?"
"I just join as new postgraduate students and I am not sure how to do a literature search”
"I have been in research for some time now but I spend a lot of time to get the articles I want”
"I am sure I have downloaded the article but I am not able to find it”
"I wanted to write a new paper, how can I manage the references in the shortest possible time?”
"I have many references, some of my old papers, and some of my current research.
Sometimes, they are so many that I can't recall where I have kept them in my folders!”
"I have written an article and I am not able to find a proper Journal”
The speaker Dr. Nader Ale Ebrahim will help you...

Dr.Nader Ale Ebrahim is the founder of 'Research Tool'. He defined research tools as the scientific tool that broadly faciliatate research and related activities. It is been classified in 4 main categories :
(1) Literature Review
(2) writing a paper
(3) Targeting suitable journal
(4) enhancing visibility and impact of the research. Plus it is existing is a systematic and interactive Web-based mind map.

==========================================
We need an effective search strategy that can SAVE hours of wasted research TIME and provide a clear direction for your research.
==========================================

What you can get from this workshop ?.
      i.  -To reduce the search time by expanding the knowledge of researchers
ii.   -To evaluate the types of literature that researchers will encounter
iii.    -To convert the information of the search for a written document
iv.    -To promote their publication for further citation

Effective Use of “Research Tools” Box and Resources

There are hundreds of research tools available for various research-related uses. Nader who developed a new method about using the “Research Tools”, has collected over 700 tools that can help researchers do their work efficiently. “Research Tools” consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. It has four main nodes: (1) Searching the literature, (2) Writing a paper, (3) Targeting suitable journals, and (4) Enhancing visibility and impact of the research. Several free tools can be found in the child nodes. In this seminar some tools and their application in research will be described. The e-skills learned from the seminar are useful across various research disciplines and research institution.
The workshop has the following objectives:

i. To help students who seek to reduce the search time by expanding the knowledge of researchers to more effectively use the "tools" that are available through the Net.

ii. To evaluate the types of literature that researchers will encounter.

iii.To convert the information of the search for a written document.

iv. To help researchers learn how to search and analyze the right journal to submit.

v. To promote their publication for further citation

Write Thesis & Paper With Ease using LaTeX

LaTeX is a document preparation system and document markup language. LaTeX uses the TeX typesetting program for formatting its output and is itself written in the TeX macro language. LaTeX is not the name of a particular editing program, but refers to the encoding or tagging conventions that are used in LaTeX documents. Almost any editing program or word-processor may be used to write LaTeX documents, although there are many editing programs written specially to make using LaTeX easy. Interactive websites and smartphone apps are increasingly generalizing and simplifying the tasks of writing documents with LaTeX.

One of the draws of LaTeX as a piece of software and a document preparation system is its maturity. It has been used as a writing environment by a diverse community of writers for several decades. As such, it has evolved into an effective and powerful writing tool.

LaTeX is widely used in academia.  It is also used as the primary method of displaying formulas on Wikipedia. As a primary or intermediate format, e.g., translating DocBook and other XML-based formats to PDF, LaTeX is used because of the high quality of typesetting achievable by TeX. The typesetting system offers programmable desktop publishing features and extensive facilities for automating most aspects of typesetting and desktop publishing, including numbering and cross-referencing, tables and figures, page layout and bibliographies.

MANY PEOPLE HAS RECEIVED THE BENEFITS OF USING LaTeX. HOW ABOUT YOU?

WRITE THESIS / PAPER WITH EASE USING LaTeX

The course will cover the following topics:
1.  Typesetting document according to predefine format such as thesis, journal paper and others.
2.  Other document structures (lists, figures, images and verbatim text).
3.  Typesetting complex mathematical equations.

4.  Textual tools (footnotes, cross-references, bibliographic citations and others).
5.  Viewing and printing.

The biodata of the speaker:
Fairuz Abdullah is a senior lecturer in Universiti Tenaga Nasional.  He has been using LaTeX since 2005.  He started TuGUNITEN, a committee in College of Engineering meant for promoting LaTeX to staff and students of UNITEN.  He also created and maintained the TuGUNITEN, thesis class file following the format of university and exam paper format class file.  He received his doctoral degree from UNITEN in 2012 in the field of optical sensor.

TYPES OF CONSTRUCTS INVOLVED IN RESEARCH

In most research projects, normally the researchers are dealing with three different types of constructs in their model. The types of constructs are Reflective Construct, Formative Construct, and Second Order Construct. These constructs can be an exogenous, an endogenous, or a mediator.
