ENHANCE VISIBILITY AND IMPACT OF YOUR RESEARCH!!

Can research become easier, more fun and more result-oriented?
The answer to this question is YES. We need an effective search strategy which can save hours of wasted research time and provide a clear direction for your research.

Objectives
=========
The workshop seeks to serve the following objectives:
• To discover how to use more efficient the tools that are available through the Net.
• To help students who seek to reduce the search time by expanding the knowledge of researchers to more effectively use the "tools" that are available through the Net.
• To evaluate the types of literature that researchers will encounter.
• To convert the information of the search for a written document.
• To help researchers learn how to search and analyze the right journal to submit.

One Day Workshop on Research Tools: Supporting Research and Publication

[PERSIAPAN AWAL]

How to save your time with effective search strategy!

The search can be time consuming and sometimes tedious task. How can make it easier? How do deal with situations such as:

"I just join as new postgraduate students and I am not sure how doing a literature search, What is a literature review?, Where do I begin in conducting a literature review?”

"I have been in research for some time now but I spend a lot of time to get the articles I want., What are the best materials to include in my review and how do I locate them?, Is it worth my time to search the Internet for the literature?”

"I am sure I have downloaded the article, but I am not able to find it”

"I wanted to write a new paper, how can I manage the references in the shortest possible time?”

"I have many references, some of my old papers, and some of my current research. Sometimes, they are so many that I can't recall where I have kept them in my folders!”

"I have written an article and I am not able to find a proper Journal, Are there any shortcuts for identifying a journal for submission?”

"I want to increase the citation of my papers, how do I do?"

We need an effective search strategy can save hours of wasted research time and provide a clear direction for your research. The benefits of attending this workshop are numerous and include learning how to change the direction of searching to discover and how to use more efficient the tools that are available through the Net."Research Tools”enable researchers to collect, organize, analyze, visualize, mobilize and create creative outputs. The benefits from using "Research Tools”can be summarized as helping researchers keep up to date with current developments in their chosen field, up to date information on what is regarding as interesting and stimulating by recognised professors, the ability to choose high-quality relevant papers related to the researchers field, evaluating other researcher and journals, publishing in appropriate journals, increased visibility for publications and access to important writing tools for editing, paraphrasing and summarizing.Writing your thesis or academic paper can be daunting enough but, with the use of the "Research Tools”what seemed virtually impossible will become true to any researcher.

Sharing research results is both an obligation and an opportunity. Since there are many considerations when a study concludes, Dr. Nader provided several"Research Tools” to help with the publication process and ideas for dissemination beyond publishing in a research journal. Publishing a high quality paper in scientific journals is only the mid point towards receiving citation in the future. The balance of the journey is completed by advertising and disseminating the publications. Familiarity with the tools allows the researchers to increase their h-index in a short time. H-index shows the academicians influence in the specified field of research. Therefore, an academician with a higher level of h-index is deemed to have publications of higher quality resulting in higher citations.

With the use of "Research Tools” the whole painstaking process of your research will be simplified and made easy, leaving you free to use your time for discovering.

We would like to invite you to participate in the workshop as follows:

DEA and Panel Data

What is DEA and PANEL DATA ?
In a Sloan Management Review article by Sherman and Zhu (June 18,2014), DEA is described as a Balance Benchmarking that help organization test their assumptions about productivity. Often the result of balanced benchmarking will lead to a major rethinking of past assumptions.
Panel Data, also called longitudinal data or cross-sectional time series data, are data where multiple cases(people, firms, countriesetc) were observed at two or more time periods. Plus, it provides multiple observations on each individual in the sample. (Hsiao,2003, page 2).

Literature Review using ATLAS.ti

THE SECOND ORDER CONFIRMATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS

The Second Order CFA is a statistical method employed by the researcher to confirm that the theorized construct in a study loads into certain number of underlying sub-constructs. For example, the theory posits that service quality construct consist of five underlying sub-constructs and each sub-construct is measured using certain number of items. The researcher might want to estimate the effect of main construct on its sub-constructs. Here, the main construct has become second order construct while the sub-constructs have become the first order construct.

THE STEPS IN PERFORMING SECOND ORDER CFA
The procedure of performing the second order factor analysis is as follows:

Step 1: Run the CFA for all first order latent sub-constructs (measurement model) In this step, the researcher is running CFA for the measurement model of sub-constructs. The CFA procedure for first order constructs has been discussed in detail in Chapter 3.

Step 2: Run the Second Order CFA for the main construct on its sub-constructs In this step, the researcher estimate the causal effects from the main construct to all its sub-constructs. The estimation is carried out by linking the main construct to all sub-constructs using a single headed arrow. The objective here is to estimate the factor loading of main construct on its sub-constructs in order to confirm that the theorized second order construct loads into the respective sub-constructs.

PERFORMING SECOND ORDER CFA FOR TRAINING TRANSFER CONSTRUCTS

In this study, the researcher is estimating the Training Transfer construct (main construct) on its three sub-constructs namely Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude. The three latent sub-constructs are measured using certain number of items.

As usual, the researcher runs the CFA to validate the measurement models of the latent constructs for unidimensionality, validity, and reliability. After CFA, the items remaining for sub-construct Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude are three, four, and four respectively as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1: The CFA for the sub-constructs
In Figure 1, we can see that all fitness indexes achieved the required level. Now these sub-constructs are ready to be modeled in its main constructs as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2: Estimating the factor loading for the main construct (second order) Training Transfer

In the above diagram, Training Transfer is the main construct while Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude are three sub-constructs. Prior to Second Order CFA, these three sub-constructs have gone through CFA for their measurement model (Figure 1). In second order CFA, the main construct Training Transfer will become second order construct and the three sub-constructs will become the first order constructs.
